The gift of Shelter changes lives!

This is the testimony of Sophie, one widow in Kenya:
"My name is Sophie. I am so much grateful to the Lord for you coming all this way to this rainy mountain just to hear what we have gone through. It is such a blessing that you would take the time to come and listen to what has been happening. I give thanks back to the Lord for He is the one who prepares whatever we go through. My husband died the year 2007. It never occurred to me that I would one day be left by my husband to take care of the kids and face tremendous challenges. I have 4 kids that my husband left me.
We were in the house when people came and raided our house in the night around midnight. So they called him by name so he went outside. He thought they were policemen who were doing rounds. But unfortunately, they were gangsters. One of the neighbors heard the commotion and he ran to help my husband but unfortunately he was killed also. We ran into the bush at Mt. Elgon into the forest. We stayed there without food, without anything. We had been living in the forest for a very long time without anything. But now God has enabled us to come back.
One of the most difficult questions that I have to deal with is the kids asking 'where is our dad? Why are we suffering?' That has been tough for a long time but I was able to tell the kids, 'Trust in the Lord and take God as your father.' The main challenge now is not on food anymore but a house to shelter the kids from the harsh conditions. Through the Lord I have been able to feed the family because each day I wake up and in the morning I have no idea but by the end of the day I have something to feed the kids. I really thank the Lord for sending people all the way from the US just to come and cry with us. Thank you for coming in the rain and mud just to come and be with us.
I want to thank those people who have given to us. They have been so much a blessing to us. I ask God's blessing upon their lives. I think the greatest challenge that I face is the one of having a shelter which I can have my children in. You have really shown the love of God that He has even used you to come from so far to come and help us. We thank the Lord because HE takes care of our needs and we pray a blessing to the people who give out."
Please give the gift of shelter! Every donation to Shelter 2012 will help meet the needs of the widowed, the fatherless, the vulnerable; your gift gives them hope for a brighter and more secure future.
"Seek justice, encourage the oppressed. Defend the cause of the fatherless, plead the case of the widow." Isaiah 1:17
